PASTOR RACHEL HUGHES

Rachel grew up in East Tennessee with 6 siblings with her parents, Frank and Pearl Hughes, at the helm. After graduating from High School, Rachel went into the United States Army for three years. She came back home to East Tennessee and attended college before moving to Clearwater , Florida in 1981. She joined the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office in 1981, and retired in 2009 after serving 28 years. In 1995, Rachel joined the United States Army Reserves where she served in three wars, Desert Storm, Iraqi, and Afghanistan. She retired in 2015 after serving 22 years.
Rachel joined Palm Harbor United Methodist Church in 1991, where she taught 5th grade Sunday School and was an Usher. She transferred her membership to Union Street United Methodist Church in 2003 where she served as Usher, Sunday School teacher, van driver, and lay servant. Rachel also worked closely with the Micronesian Ministry. In 2015 Rachel became a part time Local Pastor at Union Street UMC, and then served as the Assistant Pastor at First United Methodist Church of Dunedin when the two churches merged.
Rachel lives in Clearwater, Florida, with her two sisters whom she cares for. Rachel enjoys going to antique car shows as she has a 1973 Dodge Charger to show. Rachel is involved in martial arts, and has her own school in Safety Harbor, Florida. She loves seeing the children / students grow in confidence, and mature into respectable young adults.
